Healing Together: The Art of Becoming

In the sacred stillness of Iona’s ancient stones, I began to understand a truth that would shape my life’s work: healing is not a solitary journey, but a collective unfolding. As a psychotherapist, I’ve come to see that true transformation arises not from fixing, but from connection—where our stories, wounds, and hopes are held together. At The Art of Becoming, we create space for this kind of healing—brave, mutual, and deeply human. Because healing isn’t just mine or yours. It is ours.

What {Really} Matters?.

Inspired reflection after attendance at the We Can Do Hard Things Tour – Denver, CO

I recently sat shoulder to shoulder with 1,870+ humans—different in background, gender, story, and voice, but united in one aching longing: to remember that healing is possible when we remember that we belong to each other.

We listened to [FREAKIN’] Abby Wambach, Glennon Doyle, Amanda Doyle, and Tish Melton remind us that We. Can. (Must!) Do. Hard. Things.

Hard things like confronting systems that question whether some people deserve basic human dignity.
Hard things like facing generational trauma and daring to enter the shadows we’ve been taught to avoid.
Hard things like choosing curiosity over control, and dignity over division.

As a mental health counselor and witness to the sacred process of becoming, I believe this with the threads of my being:
Healing doesn’t come from perfection. It comes from transforming our wounds into wisdom.

We all carry stories—of harm received, and harm given. And if we want to heal, truly heal, we need everyone to join the work.
Because what we refuse to name, we cannot transform.

This blog is an invitation to pause, remember, and step into the deeper truth:

The only thing that really matters in this lifespan is that all. beings. matter.
How are you letting them know they do?
